His grandfather was a cobbler, his father owned a shoe store; that world famous shoe designer: Aldo Bensadoun

He was born in Fez in 1939 to a Moroccan Jewish family. His grandfather was a cobbler. His father owned a small shoe store in Morocco. When Aldo grew up, he wanted to continue this business.

He showed himself in 1972 by making his name a brand. He started with one shoe. It was a sabo and had 5-6 different colors. Then they added a sandal to this sabo.

And his business has grown forward!

Bensadoun was born in Morocco and spent most of his childhood in France. He moved to Montreal for college and became a Canadian citizen.

Founded in 1972 by Aldo Bensadoun, ALDO now has more than 1,700 stores in 81 countries around the world, covering Europe, the Middle East, Australia, Africa and Asia, including the United States and Canada.

1966

Aldo Bensadoun completed his military service in France and became a lecturer in economics at the École de Cavalerie de Saumur University. He returned to his favorite city, Montreal, soon after.

1972

ALDO brand shoes began to be sold in various stores in Montreal.

1978

The first ALDO store opened on Sainte-Catherine street in Montreal.

1980s

The company opened 95 stores with an extraordinary growth rate.

1985

ALDO overcame all the social taboos associated with AIDS and became the first retailer to fight the disease.

1991

ALDO opened its 200th store.

1993

ALDO USA entered the market. First U.S.A. store opened in Boston, Massachusetts. Over the next 9 years, he opened approximately 125 stores in the United States. By the end of 1993, the whole good shopping center had reached 180 stores in streets and avenues.

1994

ALDO opened up to the world by making a dealership agreement with Israel for the first time after Canada and the USA.

2000

The new retail concept "ALDO Accessory" stores started to be opened.

2001

ALDO's success in Israel encouraged him further, and Israel was followed by the United Arab Emirates. Then Saudi Arabia.

2002

After numerous successes, ALDO started to appear on the most famous streets of London, Oxford and Neal. Numerous shopping malls followed. This success at the heart of fashion accelerated ALDO's growth plans.

2006

This year carried a different excitement for ALDO. Thailand, Taiwan, Russia, Egypt, Morocco and Jordan came.

2007

Turkey, Romania, Venezuela, Panama, Indonesia, Philippines, Chile, Aruba, Mexico and Ukraine joined the ALDO family. With nearly 1000 stores in 37 countries, it will be possible to see ALDO on all continents except Antarctica!
