Rock in England: Who is George Ezra?

His new song Anyone for You has been tremendously enjoyable, and his voice has matured and settled down a lot. Those who discovered him with the Budapest song years ago can't get enough of praising George Ezra now.

A generation Z youth said:

"Listening to this guy, I feel the same way I felt listening to Norah Jones in high school. A delicious voice.. It makes people happy."

So who is George Ezra?

A young name with a bass-baritone voice, who literally came from the vineyard of England (Hertfordshire).

This young name, who has been making our ears dirty since 2013, that is, since the age of 20, was born on June 7, 1993, in Hertford as "George Ezra Barnett". He completed his primary and secondary education in his native city and completed his music education at the British and Irish Modern Music Institute in Bristol in 2011.

He brought his first sounds of folk rock and roots rock to us on the alternative stage at the Glastonbury Festival in June 2013. Then, in October of the same year, “Did You Hear the Rain?” released his EP. This EP attracted attention, and in late 2013 he made his voice heard throughout the UK on BBC Radio 1 national radio.

George Ezra Barnett (born 7 June 1993) is an English singer, songwriter and guitarist. After releasing two EPs, Did You Hear the Rain? (2013) and Cassy O' (2014), Ezra rose to prominence with the release of his hit single, "Budapest", which reached number one in several countries. His debut studio album, Wanted on Voyage, was released in June 2014, reaching number one in the UK and the top ten in seven other countries. It was also the third-best-selling album of 2014 in the UK.

During this boom, he played behind names such as his colleagues Tom Odell, Sam Smith, Bastille, and Lianne La Havas. I recommend you check them all out. He later released the EP “Cassy O'” in March 2014. But he made his real debut with the single "Budapest", which he released in June of the same year. With his debut album “Wanted On Voyage” released on the last day of June, he has become a name we listen to frequently on the radio and on the music charts. Sir Ian McKellen, who we know as Gandalf from Lord of the Rings and Magneto from X-Men, accompanied Ezra in the clip of the song "Listen to The Man", which I recommend you to listen to from this album. I also recommend you take a look at the songs "Blame It On Me" and "Barcelona".

Ezra's second studio album, Staying at Tamara's, was released in March 2018 and reached number one in the UK and the top ten in eight other countries. The second single from the album, "Paradise", reached number two in the UK, while the next single, "Shotgun", reached number one, becoming Ezra's first chart-topping single in the UK, Ireland and Australia. In February 2019, he won the Brit Award for British Male Solo Artist. Ezra released his third studio album, Gold Rush Kid, in February 2022.

Let's go back to George Ezra. The successful musician played as the opening artist at 16 concerts of Sam Smith's North American tour in 2015. He then continued to tour North America with Irish musician Hozier. It received 4 nominations at the 2015 Brit Music Awards but did not win any of the awards. You won the prize of our hearts, tall boy. What if you get an award while the music you make feeds our souls?
