The man who rules the Dollar: Who is Jerome Powell?

In 2012, he was appointed to the Federal Reserve Board of Directors by then-President Barack Obama; In 2018, he was appointed chairman of the Fed by then-president Donald Trump.

Powell was born on February 4, 1953 in Washington. Hayden Jerome Powell is his full name. He is the son of Patricia Powell and Jerome Powell. He took office as the 16th FED Chairman on February 5, 2018 at the Federal Reserve Bank. He was nominated again by President Biden on November 21, 2021. He received the praise of both parties for his work during the pandemic. He has also been named the "President of Wall Street" by Bloomberg.

He graduated from Princeton University law school in 1975, after attending a Jesuit University preparatory class in 1971. He completed his master's degree in law at Georgetown University in 1979.

Between 1981 and 1983, he worked as a lawyer at the Davis Polk & Wardwell law firm. He worked at the law firm Werbel & McMillen between 1983-1984.

Jerome Powell married Elissa Leonard in 1985. They have 3 children named Lucy Powell, Susie Powell and Sam Powell.

From 1984 to 1990, Powell worked at Dillon, Read & Co, an investment bank, where he rose by concentrating on finance, commercial banking, mergers and acquisitions.

Between 1990 and 1993, the father held senior positions in the US Treasury Department under George Bush. He served in the U.S. Department of the Treasury's department investigating treasury bond-related irregularities.

He began working as the managing director of Bankers Trust in 1993, but left in 1995 after several clients suffered losses and became the CEO of investment bank Dillon, Read & Co. back to work for

Powell became managing partner of the Global Environment Fund in 2008. On May 25, 2012, he started to work as a board member of the Federal Reserve Bank (FED). Today, he continues to serve as the chairman of the Fed.
