The single-door 1310 Sport, based on the Dacia 1310, and later a 1410 Sport, based on the Dacia 1410, were produced in limited numbers in 1981.

Dacia continued to produce the Renault 12 model with various make-ups it applied after 1981, and made 2- and 4-door pick-ups. The historic fall of the Berlin wall in 1989 led to the rapid collapse of Eastern European communist regimes.
