He was Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's former chief advisor on security issues: Who is Adnan Tanrıverdi?

Retired Brigadier General, manager, and NGO president. Tanrıverdi was appointed as the Presidential Chief Advisor in August 2016. He resigned from this position in January 2020.

He was born on November 8, 1944, in the Akşehir district of Konya, known as one of the cities with the most "religious" population in Turkey. He finished primary, secondary, and high school here. After his secondary education, he worked as a substitute teacher in primary school for a year in the 1962-1963 academic year. He studied at Istanbul University, Faculty of Science, Department of Zoology for one year in the 1963-1964 academic year.

He entered the Military Academy in 1964. On August 30, 1966; He graduated from the Military Academy with honors as an Artillery Officer. In 1967, he graduated from the Artillery and Missile School Officer Basic Course with second place.

SADAT Inc. International Defense Consultancy (Turkish: Uluslararası Savunma Danışmanlık Şirketi) is a private Turkish PMC headquartered in Istanbul, Turkey. It is the country's first domestic military consultancy firm, founded in 2012 by former Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) brigadier general, Adnan Tanrıverdi. The CEO is Melih Tanrıverdi, son of the founder (Adnan Tanrıverdi). Sadat's CEO admits working with Turkish intelligence agency on March 21 2021, and in 2023 he also publicly voiced against the NATO membership of Sweden.

He was promoted to the rank of First Lieutenant on 30 August 1970, and to the rank of Captain on 30 August 1973. He served as the Reserve Officer Company Commander in the Artillery and Missile School Courses Regiment Reserve Officer Battalion.

He studied at the Military Academy between 1976 and 1978 and gained Staff Officer status in 1978. He graduated from the Armed Forces Academy in 1980.

He was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel on 30 August 1984, and to Colonel on 30 August 1987. Before the academy, he attended Special Evolution Courses, a French Basic Course, and an Unregular Military Course.

He served as the Head of the Civil Defense Organization of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus between 1986 and 1988 and as an Officer Member and Deputy Chairman of the 1st Chamber of the High Military Administrative Court from 1988-1990.

In 1990, he was appointed as the 8th Corps Artillery Regiment Commander (Malazgirt). While in this position, he was promoted to Brigadier General on 30 August 1992.

After his retirement, he served as the General Coordinator of Üsküdar FM Radio on an honorary basis for one year between 1997 and 1998.

He founded SADAT International Defense Consultancy Construction Industry and Trade Joint Stock Company on February 28, 2012.

Following the July 15 coup attempt, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan appointed SADAT's founder, retired Brigadier General Adnan Tanrıverdi, as the Chief Advisor to the President on August 17, 2016.

Adnan Tanrıverdi passed away on August 3, 2024.
