Swedish wrestling legend. He became the world and European champion in freestyle and Greco-Roman.
He started making a name for himself in the 1940s. He was the European champion in freestyle wrestling heavyweight in 1946 and 1949, and in Greco-Roman in 1950. He won the 1951 world freestyle and 1953 world Greco-Roman titles.
Hans Bertil August Antonsson (19 July 1921 – 27 November 2006) was a Swedish heavyweight wrestler. He competed at the 1948, 1952 and 1960 Summer Olympics in freestyle wrestling and won silver medals in 1948 and 1952. In 1956 he entered the Greco-Roman contest instead and finished fifth.
He took second place in the Olympic Games (1948 and 1952), in which he participated twice.
Bertil Antonson, whose main profession was a firefighter, was known for his great wrestling technique as well as for his tall stature and shapely body.
