Her full name is Cara Jocelyn Delevingne, she was born on August 12, 1992 in Hammersmith, London. She was born the daughter of her father, real estate developer Charles Hamar Delevingne, and her mother, Pandora. Cara has two older sisters, one of whom is named Poppy Delevingne, and a half-brother from her father's side. Growing up in Belgravia, London, Cara also has many well-known family members.

She studied at the Francis Holland Girls' School in London until the age of 16. Later, Cara continued her education with Bedales School in Steep, Hampshire. Cara, who has dyspraxia, struggled at school and struggled with depression. At the age of 16, she enrolled at Bedales School in Hampshire to focus on drama and music, but dropped out a year later.

She started the first season of 2012 by walking the runway of the luxury fashion house Chanel's "Haute-Couture" spring fashion show in the Grand Palais. New York Fashion Week was the first of the "big four" fashion weeks, with Delevingne appearing in nine fashion shows for luxury fashion houses including Jason Wu, Rag & Bone, Donna Karan, Tory Burch, Oscar de la Renta and Carolina Herrera. During London Fashion Week, she specially walked the runway for the "Burberry Prorsum Womenswear A/W 2012" fashion show. She also walked the runway at six fashion shows during Milan Fashion Week. 

In the final week of "Fashion Month," Delevingne walked in seven fashion shows during Paris Fashion Week, primarily for fashion houses and designers Nina Ricci, Sonia Rykiel, Cacharel, Stella McCartney, Kenzo and Chanel. This walk marked the beginning of what would turn into a long professional relationship with Karl Lagerfeld, chief designer and creative director of luxury fashion house Chanel. She was also honored with the 2012 Model of the Year Award at the British Fashion Awards.

International "Fashion Month" decided to start again in September 2012 to showcase the 2013 spring/summer collections. During New York Fashion Week, designers and brands such as Marc Jacobs, Oscar de la Renta and Marchesa took part on the runway. She only walked the runway for the Burberry brand at London Fashion Week. She continued this success by walking in shows for designers and fashion houses such as Sass & Bide, Issa, Topshop, Mary Katrantzou, Giles and Matthew Williamson.

For Milan Fashion Week, she walked the runway of fashion houses and designers such as Moschino, Emilio Pucci, Ermanno Scervino, Ports 1961, Gabriele Colangelo and Just Cavalli. During Paris Fashion Week, Cacharel walked for the shows of famous designers such as Louis Vuitton and Costume National. Having appeared in more than 50 shows during this season, Delevingne has continued to rise rapidly and increase her success. Then, on November 7, 2012, she took the podium during the performance of singer Justin Bieber's "Beauty And A Beat" in the "Pink is US" episode of the underwear brand "Victoria's Secret Fashion Show".

She attended the 2013 pre-autumn show of Chanel, the luxury fashion house in Scotland, which used the runway around the courtyard of Linlithgow Palace as a runway. She named her collection "Paris-Edimbourg", designed by designer Karl Lagerfeld, and was inspired by the Scottish style using plaid fabrics. Thanks to the show, it increased media interest in the possibility of restoring the roof of the palace. Later, Delevingne took part in the Chanel Haute-Cuture spring fashion show and then walked the runway at luxury fashion house Valentino's Haute Couture fashion show. She made her first appearance in New York for designer Jason Wu. Katie Grand's relationship with her collection went further than a runway show when Delevingne sang the single "I Want Candy" in the mini-film 'Gang', the title of Katie Grand's collection "Loves Hogan 2013" and the large-format collection. Between two international runway seasons, Delevingne appeared on luxury fashion house Chanel's show "Cruise" in Singapore. Delevingne made her film debut as Princess Sorokina, Count Vronsky's marital interest, with Keira Knightley in the domantic drama "Anna Karenina" (2012), a film adaptation of the novel of the same name. In August 2013, Delevingne voiced a pop radio station DJ in the action-adventure video game "Grand Theft Auto V", which became the fastest-selling entertainment product in history at release.

Delevingne played the role of Melanie in the British psychological thriller "The Face of an Angel" (2014), accompanied by Daniel Brühl and Kate Beckinsale. Although the film received mixed reviews, many critics liked Delevingne's performance. The following year, she played the Enchantress, a villain with magical abilities, in the superhero movie "Suicide Squad," an action movie based on DC's comic book series of the same name. Delevingne appeared with Dane DeHaan and Rihanna in the space opera movie "Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets" (2017), directed by Luc Besson, based on the comic book series of the same name. In the same year, she appeared as Annetje in the romantic drama film "Tulip Fever" based on the novel of the same name. She also played the role of Kath Talent in the neo-noir movie "London Fields" (2018) based on the novel of the same name. Later that year, she appeared in the drama film "Her Smell" directed by Alex Ross Perry.

She then starred opposite Orlando Bloom, the female lead Vignette Stonemoss, a fairy war refugee, in the Amazon Prime Video fantasy TV series "Carnival Row." At the time, she co-starred with Jaden Smith in the romantic drama movie "Life in a Year" directed by Mitja Okorn. In 2022, she was cast for the second season of the mystery comedy-drama TV series "Only Murders in the Building". Personal life

Delevingn, who describes herself as bisexual and pansexual, started a relationship with musician St.Vincent in June 2015. The couple decided to separate in September 2016. In June 2019, Delevingn, who was in a relationship with actress and model Ashley Benson, broke up in April 2020, ending their relationship.

Delevingn, who is also an animal lover, has 16 tattoos on her body. She said that of all her tattoos, her most important tattoo is the elephant on her right arm in memory of her late grandmother. In addition, Delevingne was singing and playing the guitar.

In 2011 and 2012, Delevingne wrote and sang two music albums under artist manager Simon Fuller. Afterwards, Delevingne, who was offered a record contract, turned it down on the grounds that her name would be changed. In 2013 she recorded an acoustic duet version of the song "Sonnentanz" with British singer-songwriter Will Heard. Delevingne has designed two fashion collections for luxury fashion houses DKNY and Mulberry. The DKNY brand's capsule collection featured a variety of sporty street style items, from beret hats to leather jackets, and described the collection as "mostly unisex". She designed four collections for the Mulberry brand, consisting of backpacks and handbags, as well as wallets, iPad cases, phone cases, zipper pouches and passport holders.

Delevingne was listed among London's "1,000 Most Influential People of 2011" in the Most Invited category by the Evening Standard. In 2013, the Evening Standard newspaper was ranked 20th in the "Power 1000" list. That same year, Delevingne also made her name as the most searched fashion figure on Google and the most reblog on Tumblr.

In March 2014, Delevingne was named by The Sunday Times Magazine as one of the "100 Creators of the 21st Century", a list of influential British people. That year, she was featured on the "World's Highest Paid Models" list by Forbes magazine. In 2015, it took the second place in this list.
