Heinrich Rudolf Hertz was a highly intelligent and successful student. After only one year of education, he finished the Abitur exam, which he had to pass in order to enter a university in Germany, in the first place. He discovered his interest in nature and natural sciences during his university years and worked on the production of mechanical devices in the family workshop belonging to the Hertz family and had the opportunity to practice this subject. He also learned some Arabic.

After graduating from university, Heinrich Rudolf Hertz moved from Hamburg to Frankfurt to further advance his engineering studies and improve his experience. He completed his military service in the Berlin Railway Regiment between 1876 and 1877. He spent 1888 working at the University of Hamburg. While at the University of Hamburg, he decided to pursue an academic career, so he left Frankfurt and went to the University of Berlin to conduct scientific studies.

Heinrich Rudolf Hertz had the opportunity to work with Gustav Kirchhoff and Herman von Helmholtz, two of the greatest physicists of the time. In 1880, at the age of 23, he received his doctorate in physics with his studies on Electromagnetic Induction. After receiving his doctorate, he worked as an assistant to Herman von Helmholtz for 3 years.

In 1885 he received the title of Professor of Physics at the University of Karlsruhe. In 1888, he realized the discovery of radio waves, which is his greatest achievement and work, which has made himself known to the whole world permanently, at Karlsruhe University.
