Kenan Sofuoğlu was born on July 25, 1983 in Akyazı, Sakarya, Turkey. He is the youngest son of a motorcycle mechanic father (İrfan Sofuoğlu). The racer settled in Germany in 2002 and won the Yamaha Cup the same year. He lost his elder brother Bahattin Sofuoğlu, who was his biggest supporter, in an automobile accident in 2002. Later, he received support from his brother's friend Aytunç Taş. After placing 2nd in Supersport-IDM in the 2003 season, he moved on to the Fim Superstock 1000 Cup in 2004.
