He uses sound as a tool to achieve meditation. Shamanic drums, gongs, and various instruments help participants confront their traumas.
Leo Consendai is a Swiss sound artist and healer. He is known for his works that question the human perspective through sensitive experiences. According to what he said, world stars, including Robert Pattinson and Kate Moss, also participated in his experiences.
How did you start doing what you do?
I think the basis of some things lies in the great anxieties I experienced in my childhood. When I was about 10 years old, I realized that music was very useful during these troubles. Moreover, I spoke French at that time and the songs I listened to were in English. When I realized that even just melody could solve my anxieties, I decided to combine these two separate subjects.
Where do you grow up? What kind of childhood did you have?
I spent my childhood in Switzerland. My father and mother were artists. My mother became interested in subjects such as kinesiology and aromatherapy in the 1980s. He took lessons from masters such as Jiddu Krishnamurti in the Alps. My grandfather was one of Switzerland's first chiropractors. Therefore, I was aware of these types of different experiences even as a child.
Afterwards, you decided to move to England and turn all this into a business?
When I realized that it helped solve the panic attacks I was experiencing, I focused more on music. When I moved to London I decided to study music. I have experienced many different new generation experiences. Sound therapy and gong baths were among them. When I encountered these experiences, I became completely sure of what I wanted to do.
How would you describe a gong bath to someone who will experience it for the first time?
First of all, you should have no expectations. Just as even your favorite food may taste different from time to time, you can think of the experience here in the same way. A sound bath is a much different experience than a concert.
How does this work in practice?
I use various sounds to influence your nervous system and brain waves. The experience here is also related to your mood. A single person or 500 people can participate in this experience. Imagine an environment where everyone is lying down with their eyes closed. While in this state, you will interact with the sounds of gongs, shamanic drums, and all kinds of instruments.
