Leonard Nimoy, whom we know as Spock in the most-watched production of the time, Star Trek, is the son of a Jewish immigrant family who immigrated to the USA from today's Ukraine.

Leonard Simon Nimoy (b. March 26, 1931 - d. February 27, 2015) was an American actor, director, musician and photographer of Jewish origin. He became known for his role as Spock in the Star Trek series, which aired in the USA between 1966 and 1969.

He played a character named William Bell in the science fiction series Fringe.

Leonard Nimoy was born on March 26, 1931, in Massachusetts, USA. He is the son of a Jewish immigrant family who immigrated to the USA from today's Ukraine, within the borders of the Soviet Union. His father is Max and his mother is Dora Nimoy. He studied at Boston College. He graduated from Boston University in 1953.

Outside of acting, Nimoy was a film director, photographer, author, singer, and songwriter.

Leonard Nimoy died of chronic pulmonary obstructive disease on February 27, 2015, in Los Angeles at the age of 84.
