Marilyn Monroe was born the name Norma Jeane Mortenson on 1 June 1926 at the Los Angeles General Hospital in Los Angeles, California. Her mother is Gladys Pearl Baker. Her biological father was said to be a salesperson named Charles Stanley Gifford, whose mother worked with him as a film editor at RKO studios. Some claimed to be the father of Martin Edward Mortenson, her mother's second husband.

After her mother Gladys was hospitalized for schizophrenia, Monroe had to spend the rest of her life in an orphanage and with various caregiver families. Monroe's uncle, Marion, was admitted to a mental hospital and hung himself after he left the hospital. Her grandmother Della and grandfather Otis suffered from manic depression. For Monroe, who didn't have an easy childhood, life began at a young age.

Monroe started living with her mother again, but with her mother's illness deteriorating, she stayed with her mother's close friend, Grace McKee. However, with her mother's friend getting married and harassing her by the person she married, 9 years old Monroe was sent to Grace's aunt this time. Monroe was attacked there by her aunt's sons. She met and married her neighbor's 21 year old son, James Doughtery, when she was only 16 years old after her surroundings and events. Four years later, she got divorced.

The Blue Book started modeling by entering the modeling agency and she also attended acting and singing courses in this period. Monroe, who was successful at the agency, appeared in a lot of magazines. During this period, Ben Lyon, the manager of 20th Century Fox, drew attention and arranged a trial test with her. By Lyon's suggestion, Norma Jean changed her name to Marilyn Monroe. Then, "Scudda Hoo! Scudda Hay!" and "Dangerous Years" she made two movies called. But the films didn't succeed.

After the this failure, she was idle. She continued her acting classes as she continued modeling. In a film called "Ladies of the Chorus", she had the first chance to sing and dance. Then she played two short roles in "the Asphalt Jungle" and "All About Eve". With their short but remarkable roles in these films, everyone's attention has made.

RKO executives used Monroe's potential in Fritz Lang's film "Clash of Night." Fox used the same tactic to play in a comedy called "Monkey Business" when the film was successful. On the success of these two films, the critics could no longer ignore Monroe and linked the success of the two films to her growing reputation.

At the same time, Monroe became known as a hard player to work on sets. In particular, the late arrival for the sets, the difficulties of remembering her lines, the constant demand for reshot until satisfied with her performance, caused discontent among the directors.  And the drugs she used for insomnia and tension, stage fright and insecurity, were seen as causing various problems in film sets. These solutions that Monroe has implemented have made her insomnia, depression and mood changes worse.

Monroe was finally famous for her "Niagara" movie in 1953. In the following months, "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes" and "How to Marry a Millionaire" films were successful, and she was able to become A class a player. Later, she went to the "Actor's Studio" in New York to study acting. Her friend here is Milton H.Greene, the photographer and her own production company created Marilyn Monroe Productions.

Because of Monroe's absence and the failure of the films in the industry, they called her back, and she translated her first film, "Bus Stop", directed by Joshua Logan in 1955. In this film, the saloon singer Cherie played the best dramatic performance in her career, and received great praise from the critics and was nominated for the Golden Globe Award. Marilyn, directed by Billy Wilder in 1959, translated "Some Like It Hot", became the most successful and popular movie of her career. Monroe deserved to win a Golden Globe Award for her acting in this film.

The physical and psychological problems in Monroe's life, the addiction to alcohol and prescription pills, fatigue, nerve attacks, have caused her to have a lot of problems in sets. But despite that, her performance has attracted the attention of critics and audiences. She still didn't catch the desired financial success.

She decided to play in the comedy movie "Something's Got to Give" in 1962. She was fired from the film, for by saying she was sick during the film but by showing different behaviors. The deal was reached, and the sets were started again. But before the sets started, she took a high dose of tranquilizer medicine and she died August 5, 1962 in the bedroom of her home in Brentwood, Los Angeles when she was 36. The cause of her death was not conclusive, but it was either murder or suicide. Monroe's lifeless body was delivered to her ex wife and buried in Westwood Memorial Park Cemetery on August 8, 1962.
