Murat Yakin is a Swiss former national football player and coach of Turkish origin. Yakin, who has achieved significant success in his football and coaching career, is currently the coach of the Switzerland national football team.

Murat, who became a professional in the Grasshopper-Club Zürich team in 1992, played in Stuttgart in 1997-1999, in Fenerbahçe in 1999-2000, in Basel in 2000 and 2001-2006, and in 1. FC Kaiserslautern in 2000-2001. . Murat, who could not show himself much after that, said goodbye to football in the Basel team in 2006, at the age of 31. Murat played 274 matches and scored 47 goals throughout his career.

Murat Yakin started his career as technical director at Concordia Basel in 2006. Yakin, who later coached the Thun (2009) and Luzern (2011-2012) teams, served as the head coach of Russia's Spartak Moscow team in the 2014-2015 season.
Murat Yakin was appointed as the coach of the Switzerland national team on 9 August 2021. He held Italy to a goalless draw in the match against Northern Ireland in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers, ensuring Switzerland's participation in the tournament and causing Italy to play in the play-offs. As a thank-you for this success, 9.3 kg of chocolate was sent to Northern Ireland.
