Nancy Pelosi (Nancy Patricia D'Alesandro) of Italian descent was born on March 26, 1940 in Baltimore Maryland.

She studied political science at Trinity College in Washington and graduated with a bachelor's degree in 1962.

She moved to New York the following year after she married Paul Pelosi. With 5 children, Pelosi has built a reputation as a highly influential fundraiser.

She rose in her career by serving on the Democratic National Committee, serving as chairman of both the California Democratic Party (1981-83) and the host committee for the 1984 Democratic National Convention.
