Nazım Salur, the founder of Getir, which has been serving since 2015, realized the goal of carrying Getir abroad with London. Nazım Salur says, “We want to popularize the name Getir, that is, this two-syllable Turkish word, to the countries we visit.”
Who is Nazım Salur, the founder of Getir?
Born in Bayburt, one of the Black Sea region cities of Turkey, Salur was born in 1963.
Launched in 2015, Getir is the second venture of Nazım Salur, after BiTaksi, who entered the technology sector at the age of 50 after working in many different sectors such as FMCG, shipping, automotive, and furniture.
After graduating from the Business Administration Department of Boğaziçi University, one of the most important universities in Turkey, in 1986, Nazım Salur founded various companies that act as an intermediary in the sale of facilities used in furniture manufacturing. With BiTaksi, its first initiative in the field of technology, in 2013, Salur brought together passengers looking for a taxi with taxis looking for passengers, and for the first time in Turkey, offered the option of paying by credit card to taxis. Getir, Nazım Salur's second venture in the field of technology, was put into service in July 2015. Bringing thousand and five hundred products to users day and night, the smartphone application Getir broke new ground in the world with an average delivery time of 10 minutes. Nazım Salur has been a serial entrepreneur for over 20 years.
Nazım Salur explained the secret of Getir's success in April 2020 as follows:
"The most critical point for entrepreneurs is to follow the world and find a good idea. It is also very important to start the business at the right time, with the right team, and with the right budget. At Getir, we already offer a solution that will completely destroy and transform the stereotypical shopping habits that have been established for years. A challenge in itself. Needs and expectations differ in big cities like Istanbul. Getir works in a way that can respond to these expectations in a fast, high quality and reliable way. You don't know what will happen to you when you set off. Because the business model you are trying to do is unique. You are the first to experience the difficulty. So you're the first to write the book on this model."
