The famous actor we know as Legolas of the Lord of the Rings series: Who is Orlando Bloom?

He was once the hottest bachelor in the world. Now he's having a happy relationship with famous singer Katy Perry. The life of Orlando Bloom, who we know as Will Turner in the Pirates of the Caribbean.

Orlando Bloom was born on January 13, 1977 in Canterbury, England, and named after Orlando Gibbons, a 16-century British composer. Bloom's mother was Sonia Constance Josephine, and his father was Colin Stone, who was his mother's partner and family friend, who Bloom learned when he was thirteen. Bloom grew up in Canterbury. He studied at St Peter's Methodist Elementary and at the King's School's secondary school. Bloom was discovered to be dyslexic, and was encouraged by his mother to take art and drama lessons.

In 1993, he moved to London to follow a two year A-level course in Drama, Photography and Sculpture at the College of Fine Arts. He then joined the National Youth Theater. He spent two seasons there and got a scholarship to study at the British American Drama Academy. Bloom began professional acting with television roles in Casualty and Midsomer Murders. Then before entering the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, he made his first film with Wilde (1997), which he played with Stephen Fry. This is Bloom's first film on the screen. 

Two days after graduating from Guildhall in 1999, the Lord of the Rings, played Legolas in the film trilogy. That was his first major role. In 2002, he was on Teen People's "25 Hottest Stars under 25" list and was selected as people's hottest bachelor in Hollywood on the 2004 list of the magazine.

All members of the cast of the Lord of the Rings film were nominated for the best acting in three years in a row at Screen Actors Guild Awards. Finally in 2003, the third film won by Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King. Bloom also won other awards, including the European Film Awards, the Hollywood Festival Award, the Empire Awards and the Young People's Choice Awards. 

Bloom then won the chance to play Will Turner in the curse of the, the Pirates of the Caribbean: Black Pearl who broke the record for blockbusters in the summer of 2003. Then, Bloom next took to the screen as Paris, the man who effectively started the Trojan War, in the 2004 Spring blockbuster, Troy opposite Brad Pitt, Eric Bana and Peter O'Toole. 

He then starred in Ridley Scott's Kingdom of Heaven and Cameron Crowe's Elizabethtown (both 2005) films. In 2006, Bloom took part in sequel Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, and also in the independent production of Haven, which he was the lead producer. Bloom also became the most wanted man in Google News in 2006. As of may 2007, he also played in four of the top 15 films of all time. Bloom is now known as a world star. 

Bloom then released on may 24, 2007, the Pirates of the Caribbean: End of the World revived Will Turner again. After graduating from Guildhall School of Music and Drama, Bloom, who was aiming to become a theater actress, said he loved it. He was also one of the many stars in 2009 who played "I love you, New York," featuring 12 short movies in one.

Orlando Bloom took part in The Three Musketeers, which was released in 2011. Bloom reenacted the role of Legolas in the second and third episodes of Peter Jackson, The Hobbit. Bloom played Romeo at the Richard Rodgers Theater in August 2013 in Romeo and Juliet.  

In October 2011, Bloom said he wanted to return for the fifth Pirates of the Caribbean film. And in may 2017, the fifth film to be released was the Pirates of the Caribbean: The Dead Men Does Not Tell a Story, reenacted the character of will Turner with supporting-role. Also, Bloom was included in Hollywood walk of Fame on 2 April 2014 for his contribution to the film industry.  

First, he played Killer Joe act of Trafalgar Studios in 2018. Later in July 2020, Captain Benjamin Keating played in the Outpost, a war movie that he played. Bloom is currently in Carnival Row, the Amazon Prime TV program, which is taking its second season in Prague and temporarily postponing production due to COVID-19.  

Private Life

In 2004, he became a full member of the SGI-UK (UK branch of Soka Gakkai International), an ordinary Buddhist association linked to Nichiren's teachings. Bloom was also part of Global Green, an environmental company since the early '2000. As part of his interest in the environment, he used solar panels in his London home. He used recycled materials and used energy efficient bulbs to show his importance to the environment in his home. 

In addition to his acting, he actively attended the 'Australia is Joining' fundraising event on February 12, 2009 to gather support for victims of Australian wildfires on February 7, 2009. And he showed his kindness and his goodwill once again.  

Bloom was elected UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador on October 12, 2009. He has been in organizations since 2007, and visited schools and villages in Nepal to support cleaning and training programs. In addition, he visited Sloviansk, eastern Ukraine, in April 2016 to draw attention to the educational crisis facing children during the 2014-2015 Russian-Ukrainian war, and was able to build a throne in the heart.

In late 2007, Bloom started dating Australian supermodel Miranda Kerr. He announced that they were engaged in June 2010 and married the following month. Miranda Kerr gave birth to her sons in Los Angeles on January 6, 2011. On October 25, 2013, Bloom and Kerr announced that they broke up a few months ago and planned to end their marriage. Bloom and Kerr got divorced at the end of 2013.  

Bloom started dating American singer and songwriter Katy Perry in January 2016. They were engaged on February 14, 2019. On March 5, 2020, he appeared with a clip of Perry's "Never Worn White". The couple said they were expecting their first child together, and Katty Perry gave birth to her daughter on August 26, 2020.
