Technical Ecstasy was Black Sabbath's first album that did not enter the top 50 of the American charts, and after the album, the band began to disintegrate Ozzy Osbourne announced that he was leaving Black Sabbath in November 1977, shortly before the band entered the studio for their new album. Osbourne, who said that he was not happy with the band's direction, still took part in the band's last album, Never Say Die.
