Booksellers in the U.S. said it was a good start after a year of declining sales.
In the USA, Walter Isaacson's highly anticipated biography of billionaire Elon Musk showed a strong performance by selling 92 thousand 560 copies in its first week of sale, marking a good start to the season for bookstores. In the statement made by Circana BookScan, which tracks book sales, it was stated that "Elon Musk" sales reflect printed books sold in the USA until September 16, and do not include audiobooks or e-books.
He worked on the book for three years
The Elon Musk book was released on Tuesday, September 12, 2023. Isaacson said in an interview that he worked on the project for about three years. A review in the Wall Street Journal stated that the book provides some compelling answers about how people should view the billionaire entrepreneur. The book hit No. 1 on the New York Times hardcover nonfiction bestseller list on October 1.
Walter Isaacson settled in with Elon Musk for two years to research the biography of the richest man in the world. Musk's psychological scars from how his father treated him as a child, his decision to limit Ukraine's access to the Starlink satellite network to prevent military operations, and his move to fire Twitter's top executives at the last minute before their stock options expire: He heard it all from Musk's mouth.
