William George Bonin (January 8, 1947 – February 23, 1996), also known as the Freeway Killer or the Freeway Strangler, was an American serial killer and twice-paroled sex offender who committed the rape, torture, and murder of a minimum of twenty-one young men and boys between May 1979 to June 1980. On at least twelve occasions, Bonin was assisted by one of his four known accomplices; he is also suspected of committing a further fifteen murders.
His grandfather was convicted of child molestation. Here too, Bonini, who was left neglected, was looked after by his neighbors. In the following years, Boni found his way to an orphanage. The orphanage years were very difficult for Bonin. Bonin, who spent approximately 3 years in the orphanage, started stealing after leaving there. Bonin, who started stealing car license plates, was sent to a reformatory when he was caught. When Bonin, whose years in the reformatory ended, returned home, he became a rapist whose psychological disorders had reached their peak.
Bonin, whose symptoms disappeared during high school, joined the American Military Forces and fought in Vietnam as a successful soldier, whereupon he was awarded the Good Conduct Medal. Bonin, whose military service ended, kidnapped and raped many young boys. He was caught and tried to be treated, but when it was understood that the treatment would be ineffective, he was imprisoned. However, during his short prison period, thanks to the application made by his lawyer, he was released from prison to receive treatment again. The doctor who claimed to have treated Bonin reported that he was now harmless and could not harm anyone. Thereupon, Bonin was released. After gaining his freedom, Bonin started his massacres.
Bonin is a burly truck driver. The victims were generally men. He first raped and then killed many of his victims. He tortured his victims before killing them. Because of his terrible tortures, there are even those who call him the most brutal serial killer in history. Bonin carried out most of his executions in Southern California.
