Electrolux celebrates 110 years of vacuum cleaner production

The use of vacuum cleaners in homes dates back to ancient times. Vacuum cleaners, which were completely need-oriented at that time, have turned into products that use advanced design and cutting-edge technology today. Electrolux, for example, was founded exactly 110 years ago when it started producing the first vacuum cleaner. The history of Electrolux, founded by Alex Wenner-Gren in Sweden in 1912, began with the development and sale of compact and affordable vacuum cleaners instead of the huge vacuum cleaners that were very difficult to use in the home environment at that time.

Lux, the first vacuum cleaner designed by Electrolux, has evolved over the years into high-end vacuum cleaner models such as UltraCaptic, which has cyclone technology that prevents dust from scattering and prevents it from dispersing, and UltraSilencer ZEN, which offers a completely silent vacuuming experience.

Axel Lennart Wenner-Gren (5 June 1881 – 24 November 1961) was a Swedish entrepreneur and one of the wealthiest men in the world during the 1930s. Wenner-Gren amassed a fortune from his early insight that the industrial vacuum cleaner could be adapted for domestic use. Soon after the First World War he persuaded the Swedish lighting company (called Lux at the time, but with his suggestion to rename it to Electrolux) for which he then worked (securing the contract to floodlight the opening ceremony of the Panama Canal, among other successes), to buy the patent to a home vacuum cleaner. He asked that instead of compensating him in cash, he would receive company stock based on the sales of the vacuum cleaner. The Electrolux cleaner was so successful that by the early 1930s, Wenner-Gren had become the majority owner of Electrolux, and the firm was a leading brand in both vacuum cleaner and refrigerator technology.

The history of innovations that make a difference in the vacuum cleaner field:

The first vacuum cleaner model Lux produced in 1912 was the starting point of 110 years of experience.

In 1921, he set a milestone in vacuum cleaner history with the groundbreaking Model V at home.

In 1930, the first vacuum cleaner store was opened in Sweden.

In 1964, a timeless product was introduced with Luxomatic. It became a model describing the current vision of Electrolux.

In 2001, the world's first robot vacuum was produced by Trilobite Electrolux.

In 2003, Ergorapido, the first wireless charging 2-in-1 vacuum cleaner, was launched.

In 2008, Electrolux introduced the Green vacuum cleaner concept and launched the social responsibility project “Brooms from the Sea”.

In 2013, UltraCaptic was introduced with its groundbreaking technology in the vacuum cleaner. Electrolux has a patented innovation that compresses powders in the chamber.

In 2014, the 10 millionth Ergorapido was produced. Ergorapido has become the most successful product on the market for 3 generations.

In 2014, it launched the UltraOne Quattro model, the world's first AAAA performance and energy efficient vacuum cleaner.

In 2015, Electrolux UltraFlex was awarded design awards by Reddot and Plus X Award.

It reached a silence of 58 decibels with UltraSilencer ZEN, the quietest vacuum cleaner it produced in 2016.
