Asus' impressive rise story
Here is the impressive rise story of Asus, one of the top 5 computer companies in the world…
It was established in Taiwan in 1989. 4 engineers named T H Tung, Ted Hsu, Wayne Hsieh, and M T Liao, who previously worked at Acer, left and created their own brands. The name Asus is taken from the last four letters of the winged horse 'Pegasus', which is thought to be the inspiration for science and art in Greek mythology.
In the early years of the company, 'Inspiring Innovation; While using the slogan 'Persistent Perfection', it later started using the motto 'In Search of Incredible'. Asus has made a name for itself with the production of computer parts and components, especially motherboards. By 2005, one out of every three computers in the world started to be produced with Asus brand motherboards. In addition to motherboards, Asus graphics cards and LCD panels also gained a large market share.
Asus later began to have a say in the laptop and tablet computer market. According to 2018 data, Asus ranks fourth in the global computer market after HP, Lenovo, and Dell. It sells more computers worldwide than Apple and Acer.
Asus made a rapid entry into the smartphone market in 2014 with the Zenfone brand. The company, which has achieved great success with its Zenfone models, is increasing its market share every year.
Taiwan-based technology companies were able to obtain the processors they needed to test any prototype they produced in Asus's founding years, much later than older and more established American companies. However, in these years, the US Intel had some problems with its own processor in its prototype. Intel had no problems with motherboards manufactured by Asus. Thereupon, Intel began to receive technical support from Asus. This was a turning point for Asus. It both increased its international reputation and started to obtain the processors that it would use in its prototypes before its competitors.
