Born in New York in 1981, Mutlu's childhood passed in the triangle of America, Europe and Turkey. She received her high school education in Italy. She then graduated from New York University's Department of Economics with the first place. Before starting her MBA at Harvard Business School in 2008, she worked in the brand management, marketing and business development departments of companies such as Altria, Procter & Gamble and Reckitt Benckiser. As one of the early discoverers of the online shopping potential in Turkey, she left Harvard with a radical decision and founded Trendyol.

Trendyol, which has grown rapidly since its establishment, has become the largest fashion e-commerce site in Turkey and the Middle East in a short time. In 2018, Chinese e-commerce giant "Alibaba Company" became the main shareholder of Trendyol with an investment of 750 million dollars.

Demet Mutlu's career is not limited to Trendyol. She brought a new dimension to the concept of multitasking.
