King or prophet: Who is King David?

He succeeds Ishbosheth and leaves the throne to his son Solomon after him. David's character and deeds reflected in the Tanakh made him one of the most important figures in the Jewish tradition and one of the greatest of the people of Israel.

It is believed that his genealogy dates back to the prophet Abraham. His grave is in the city of Jerusalem.
