Maarten van Ooijen (born 1 May 1990) is a Dutch director and politician for the Christian Union . He has been State Secretary for Health, Welfare and Sport in the Rutte IV cabinet since 10 January 2022 . He was an alderman in Utrecht from 7 June 2018 to 10 January 2022.
Van Ooijen attended pre-university education at Ichthus College in Veenendaal from 2002 to 2008 . He then studied at Utrecht University , where he obtained a bachelor's degree in sociology from 2009 to 2011 and a master's degree in public administration from 2012 to 2015 . He was also a member of Sola Scriptura during his student days.
From 2011 to 2014 he was an employee in the Christian Union faction in Utrecht and from 2012 to 2014 he was also active as national chairman of PerspectieF , the youth organization of the ChristenUnie.
