Koç Holding is the property of Turkey's oldest, largest and richest family. This group was founded and grown by Vehbi Koç; His son Rahmi Koç brought him to a certain stage. Now, Ömer Koç is the head of that group.
WHO IS OMER KOÇ?
Ömer Koç became the head of the holding after the death of his elder brother Mustafa Koç. The best educated member of the family. He studied Greek philology at Georgetown and at Columbia University. He learned Ottoman. Interested in art and archeology. He has a passion for painting, tile and book collection.
Mehmet Ömer Koç, Chairman of Koç Holding Board of Directors, was born on March 24, 1962 in Ankara. Ömer Koç, son of Rahmi Koç, brother of Mustafa Koç, and elder brother of Ali Koç, completed his high school education at Robert College. He received his diploma from Columbia University and also earned a master's degree in business administration.
Ömer Koç, who does not like to be on the agenda with his private life, is very interested in art, unlike his other brothers. He especially has a different love for the Ottoman period. He had taken Ottoman Turkish lessons for years before. His house is decorated in Ottoman style and he has a priceless collection from the Ottoman period. Ömer Koç collects photographs, paintings, coins and maps from the Ottoman period.
He started his business life in 1985 as a Sales Person at Kofisa Trading Company in Switzerland. In 1989, New York-based Ramerica Int. Inc. in the same position. Afterwards, Ömer Koç served as General Manager at Gazal A.Ş. between 1991 and 2004, and also served as Finance Coordinator, Energy Group Vice President and Energy Group President at Koç Holding.
