Sunak; He first became a Member of Parliament (MP) in 2015 after being elected from Richmond, Yorkshire. He quickly rose through the ranks of the Conservative Party and supported the calls for 'Brexit'. Sunak was among his supporters during Johnson's 'leave the EU' campaign.
He made history in February 2020 when he was appointed to one of the UK's most important posts, the Minister of Finance.

But his reputation was tarnished when his wife, who comes from a wealthy Indian family, was quarantined over her non-payment of taxes in the UK and was fined for violating lockdown rules during the pandemic.
In support of Britain's exit from the EU (Brexit), Sunak remained loyal to him despite tensions over economic policy and Johnson's desire to lower taxes faster. However, his relationship with Johnson deteriorated when Sunak resigned along with his close ally and former cabinet friend, former health minister Sajid Javid.
"The public rightly expects the proper, competent and serious conduct of the government," Sunak said in his resignation letter. In his resignation letter, Sunak also touched on tensions over the economy, saying that their approach with the Prime Minister had become "fundamentally very different". The resignations of Sunak and Javid triggered the succession of ministers to step down and precipitated the downfall of the Johnson government.
