Run DMC, Joseph "DJ Run" Simmons, Darryl "D.M.C." McDaniels, and Jason "Jam-Master Jay" Mizell as a group to pioneer hip-hop culture. The group made hip-hop one of the major music genres and made a big splash in the 80s. The three members of the band grew up next door to each other in Queens, USA.

Jason "Jay" Mizell, stage name Jam MasterJay, founded Run-DMC in the early 1980s with Joseph "Run" Simmons and Darryl "DMC" McDaniel.

The band helped bring hip-hop into the mainstream with their hits like "It's Tricky" and their rendition of "Walk This Way" with Aerosmith.

This group has a great effort in raising rap music's awareness and focusing on more serious issues. Their self-titled debut album in 1984 and the raising hell rap released 2 years later are among the most important works bestowed on rap music and hip-hop culture.

They started operating in 1983 and unfortunately disbanded in 2002. This group is one of the people who brought Oldskool rap to the top.

Run-DMC not only enabled the spread of hip-hop culture, but also enabled the sneaker culture to become a part of the city culture, together with the Adidas Superstar collaboration. In short, they broke the elite, luxury and hard-to-reach image of snekars and made them more accessible.

After the murders of Tupac Shakur in Las Vegas in 1996 and Christopher "Biggie Smalls" Wallace in Los Angeles in 1997, the murders of Jay shook the hip-hop world.

Jam Master Jay was shot in the head with a 40-caliber bullet in 2002, at the age of 37, by a masked assailant at his studio in Hollis.

Murder of Run-DMC star Jam Master is solved after 20 years

The murder of Run-DMC member Jam Master, who was killed in 2002, is solved almost 20 years later.

In the United States, federal prosecutors announced that they are getting closer to solving the mystery of the murder of Run-DMC member Jam Master Jay (Jason Mizell).

U.S. Attorney Seth DuCharme explained the charges, "A case involving a murder that has remained unanswered for nearly two decades. Today, we begin to answer the question of who killed Jason Mizell and why, and we are confident we can substantiate these charges beyond a reasonable doubt."

According to the indictment, murder suspects are 56-year-old Ronald Washington and 36-year-old Karl Jordan Jr., who are jailed for a string of robberies and cocaine distribution.

According to the prosecution, Master Jay was planning to bring in large quantities of cocaine to sell. Suspect Ronald Washington killed Jay for foiling a plan to distribute 10 kilograms of cocaine in his area. "They went in and killed him in cold blood," said Prosecutor DuCharme.
