Miele has been an independent family business since it was founded in 1899.

With eleven employees, four turntables and a drill, technician Carl Miele and trader Reinhard Zinkann founded a company that manufactures milk centrifuges in Herzebrock, Germany, in 1899. The main motto of the company philosophy was: "Immer besser - always better".

Miele is a German manufacturer of high-end domestic appliances and commercial equipment, headquartered in Gütersloh, Ostwestfalen-Lippe. The company was founded in 1899 by Carl Miele and Reinhard Zinkann, and has always been a family-owned and family-run company.

This new company started the manufacture of milk centrifuges with eleven employees at an old saw and wheat mill in the Herzebrock area near Gütersloh.

1900

The founders, who were encouraged by the great successes achieved so far, also took up automobile production. Between 1912 and 1914, a total of 143 cars were sold between 5,100-7,900 Marks. However, this was abandoned due to the high capital requirement of this branch.

1914

The first water-powered washing machine (no. 40) was introduced by Miele before the First World War. At that time, water was much cheaper than electricity and could also be collected and used for other purposes (eg rinsing).

Third, a brand new model is an electric motorized washing machine that can be plugged into a household outlet. This is Miele's legendary No. 50 washing machines.

1915

Due to the needs during the war, Miele added wheelbarrows to its production program. The success of this product was huge and production continued until the 50s.

1916

Even then, Miele was confident in the quality of its products, so it offered a 10-year warranty upon request.

1920

The mechanization of the milking process reached a very high standard at this date. This small dairy, consisting of two to three devices, processes milk to butter with a single engine.

1924

Finally ready in 1924: the discontinued Miele factory in Bielefeld is starting the long-planned production of bicycles.

1925

In 1925 Miele developed the first coal- and gas-fired drum washing machines. Thanks to their large capacity, these machines are used in hotels, restaurants, hospitals, etc. It is intended for washing systems with A washing centrifuge of a suitable size was also sent.

Vacuum cleaner sales reached huge numbers. A significant increase in sales was achieved thanks to new and improved models, easy use and affordable prices, as well as advertising support.

1952

2014

With the "Scout RX1" model, Miele entered the market for the first robot vacuum cleaner. The cleaning performance of the robot vacuum, which works with a worldwide navigation system ("smart navigation"), took its deserved place in the market with its lithium-ion batteries and Miele quality.
