Aileen Carol Wuornos (February 29, 1956 – October 9, 2002) was an American serial killer. In 1989–1990, while engaging in street prostitution along highways in Florida, she shot dead and robbed seven of her male clients. Wuornos claimed that her clients had either raped or attempted to rape her, and that the homicides of the men were committed in self-defense. Wuornos was sentenced to death for six of the murders. She was executed on October 9, 2002 by lethal injection after spending more than 10 years on Florida's death row.

In 1986, she meets a girl named Tyria Moore, whom she falls in love with, and a lesbian relationship begins. They lived together for four years. She continues to be a prostitute to support the household.

On December 1, 1989, 51-year-old Richard Mallory picks her up in his car. However, an argument between them goes as far as Richard Mallory's rape by tying Aileen. Trying to defend herself, Aileen kills Richard with a gun. In this way, Aileen, who committed her first murder, leaves Richard's body in the woods, takes her car, and runs away.

After this murder, she became a serial killer by killing 43-year-old David Spears, 40-year-old Charles Carskaddon, 65-year-old Peter Siems, 50-year-old Troy Burress, 56-year-old Charles Humphreys, and 62-year-old Walter Jeno Antonio. She used weapons in all of the serial murders she committed between 1989 and 1990 and continued to flee, often leaving their bodies in forested areas. Aileen Wuornos, who was tried for the murder of 5 people even though she was said to have killed 7 people and was caught after her favorite girlfriend, Tyria Moore, complained to the police, is sentenced to death by the court.

Upon hearing the verdict, Wuornos said in court: “Everything I've done is rooted in terrible anger. I have to be executed because if I ever get out of jail, I will commit murder again.”

And it is rumored that she also said the following words to the court: “I am innocent. I hope they rape you too, shitbags.”

The execution of Aileen Wuornos, known in the USA as the "Hitchhiker Serial Killer", who will be buried deep in history, took place on October 9, 2002.
