First female Chairman of the Board in airline history: Who is Christianne Wickler?
For the first time since its establishment, a female Chairman of the Board has been appointed to head Luxembourg-based Cargolux Airlines. Cargolux Airlines, Europe's largest scheduled cargo airline, has appointed Christianne Wickler as the Chairman of the Board.
The Covid-19 outbreak brought cargo flights to the fore. The major crisis in passenger flights did not prevent cargo flights. Cargo companies made significant progress in this period. In this context, Cargolux Airlines is managed by a female Chairman of the Board for the first time in its history.
Who is Christianne Wickler?
She was born on February 21, 1960, in Luxemburg. An entrepreneur and mother of four, Wickler started her career in 1982 thanks to a small gas station in Oberpallen, which her father entrusted. She managed a group of supermarkets expertly for 38 years. She developed a business concept, the Pall Center. The founding partner of the “5fir12” citizen collective entered politics by entering the 2013 legislative elections on Luxembourg's Green Party list. She became a member of Parliament after the Green Party entered the Government coalition. But six months later she decided to resign from her membership of Parliament in order to devote herself entirely to her family and her job, which employs more than 300 people.
Cargolux Cargolux Airlines
The company made its first flight on a Canadair CL-44 cargo plane from Luxembourg to Hong Kong in May 1970. Established in 1970, Cargolux Airlines has 85 offices in more than 50 countries and carries out global transportation to more than 250 destinations. 2,000 employees are actively working in the company. It uses Luxembourg and China's Zhengzhou Xinzheng airports as its hub. The airline's fleet of 30 consists of B747 model aircraft. Of these, 6 are B747-400ERF, 10 are 747-400F, and 14 are B747-8F. The airline is also the first user of B747-8F model aircraft.
