Director who is not good with mobile phones and the internet: Who is Christopher Nolan?
Science fiction genre, epic stories, superheroes, stars, or inter-dream journeys... All of these require great talent and experience in visual effects, as well as mastery in sound design. And Christopher Nolan's team always succeeds in this.
Christopher Nolan was born in London on July 30, 1970. Nolan, who spent his childhood years in London and Chicago, shot his first films with his means with the 8mm camera his father bought him when he was seven years old.
After completing his secondary education at Haileybury and Imperial Service College in Hertfordshire, England, he received his undergraduate degree in English Literature at University College London. During his university years, he had the opportunity to shoot many short films in the school's film club.
At the age of 27, he married Emma Thomas, whom he met for the first time at his school's film club.
Christopher Edward Nolan (born 30 July 1970) is a British and American filmmaker. Known for his Hollywood blockbusters with complex storytelling, Nolan is considered a leading filmmaker of the 21st century. His films have grossed more than $6 billion worldwide. The recipient of many accolades, he has been nominated for five Academy Awards, five BAFTA Awards and eight Golden Globe Awards. In 2015, he was listed as one of the 100 most influential people in the world by Time, and in 2019, he was appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire for his contributions to film.
In the early 1990s, Nolan worked as a cameraman on photojournalist Dan Eldon's African aid projects. Eldon continued this adventure until he was killed in Somalia in 1993.
In 1998, he shot his first film, Following, which was about a writer who follows random people, and cost only $6000. After the film was liked, he signed with Newmarket Films and completed Memento, which would later become a cult film, in 2000. The film, starring Guy Pearce, won the Golden Globe and the Oscar for "Best Screenplay".
In 2002, he shot a new version of Insomnia, which was originally a Norwegian film. The film starred Al Pacino and Robin Williams. In 2005, he was shooting Batman, the hero of his childhood, with a different structure. Batman Begins, starring Christian Bale, was extremely different from the Batman films shot to date.
He shot The Prestige in 2006 and The Dark Knight in 2008. Winning 2 Oscars, The Dark Knight also had an incredible box office success and remained at the top of the top 250 movies on the famous cinema site IMDB for a long time.
In 2010, Inception, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, was released on the big screen. In its first week, the film managed to rank 3rd on IMDB's top 250 movies list and grossed more than 60 million dollars.
Nolan, married and father of three children, lives in Los Angeles, California. On the other hand, the most extraordinary feature of the famous director is his attitude towards technology. Nolan, who does not have a personal e-mail address or phone number, had his wife as an assistant director in many of his films and had his brother write the scripts of his films.

First Movie: The Following (1998)
Leaving short films behind and moving on to feature films, Nolan wrote his first film inspired by a thief who broke into his house. After this incident, Nolan thought about thieves and their mentality and decided to shoot The Following. The movie is about a writer who follows random people and examines their lives by entering their homes.
Nolan also had his family and friends star in the film due to financial difficulties at the time. However, the movie, which cost only $6000, was appreciated. This acclaim helped him sign a deal with Newmarket Films and shoot his second film.
