3 Body Problem, the new sci-fi series from Game of Thrones creators David Benioff and D B Weiss, rose to the top of the Netflix charts in its second week (April 4, 2024). The science fiction series, which had a huge budget of 160 million dollars, reached the top with 15.6 million views.
The series, which is an adaptation of the novel, is Benioff and Weiss' first major project since Game of Thrones ended in 2019.
Set in a complex science fiction world, The 3-Body Problem follows a group of scientists investigating an alien threat to the existence of Earth.
The series, which premiered on March 21, is adapted from Cixin Liu's 2008 novel series. The award-winning novel deals with the consequences of a decision made by a Chinese scientist in the 1960s.

Weiss, he is best known for co-creating Game of Thrones (2011–2019), the HBO adaptation of George R. R. Martin's series of books A Song of Ice and Fire. He also wrote 25th Hour (2002), Troy (2004), City of Thieves (2008) and co-wrote X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009). Benioff was born David Friedman in New York City, the youngest of three children in a Jewish family with ancestral roots in Austria, Romania, Germany, Poland and Russia.
