First reaction from the star of Prison Break to the remake of the series
The series, which ran for 4 seasons between 2006 and 2009, returned with its 5th season in 2017.
Walt Disney Company's digital broadcast platform Hulu announced that Prison Break, which left its mark on an era, will return with a different cast and renewed script. Prison Break star Dominic Purcell shared his thoughts on the series' return.
53-year-old Purcell played a prisoner who was unfairly sentenced to death in the famous series.
It was also announced that the new series, written by Elgin James, will not feature Purcell's character Lincoln Burrows, or his brother Michael Scofield, who made a detailed plan to break him out of prison.
Purcell reacted to the news with a post on Instagram and thanked fans for the success of the first Prison Break.
Purcell, who described the series, which was created by Paul Scheuring and premiered in 2005, as "an extraordinary gift", explained how he was surprised by the success of the series, and added that "that chapter of his life has closed".
Prison Break was an extraordinary gift for me and those closest to me. Especially for my family. I am deeply honored by its success both here and globally. It's a rare event. I was very lucky, I have never forgotten that.
