Hakan Çalhanoğlu was born on February 8, 1994 in Mannheim, Germany. Hakan Çalhanoğlu is originally from Bayburt on his father's side. Born in Mannheim, Çalhanoğlu first started working in the Waldhof Mannheim infrastructure. In 2009, he was transferred to Karlsruher's infrastructure and started playing in the U-17 team. The next season he also started playing in the U-19 team.
