Actor who received great acclaim for his Aquaman movie and his performance: Who is Jason Momoa?

Jason Momoa was born on August 1, 1979 in Honolulu, Hawaii. He is the only child of his mother, photographer Coni, and his father, painter Joseph Momoa. His full name is Joseph Jason Namakaeha Momoa. Shortly after his birth, his parents divorced. Momoa and his mother moved to Norwalk, Iowa, where he grew up. He graduated from Norwalk High School, where he was a part of the football team with Brandon Routh. Furthermore, Momoa attended the University of Hawaii.

The actress, who started her active career in 1998, is also a model, director and writer. His passion for music was not to be ignored. This passion started after listening to Tool's song "Sober" for the first time. Momoa was a hobby musician and played bass guitar, mandolin, ukulele. In his spare time, he also played the guitar because he was a guitar addict.

At the age of 19, while living and working in Honolulu, Momoa decided to audition for the television series Baywatch Hawaii, where he played Jason Ioane (1999–2001). Momoa appeared as Roman in four episodes of the comedy drama television series The Game (2009). He played the protagonist in Conan the Barbarian (2011), a remake of the 1982 film of the same name, a role made famous by Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Momoa auditioned for and won the role of Khal Drogo in HBO's Game of Thrones, playing the Haka dance, one of many that scares Māori. The actor made his name known for the first time with this series with his performance and his role. Momoa directed and co-wrote Road to Paloma (2014), an American drama thriller with writers Jonathan Hirschbein and Robert Homer Mollohan. 

In March 2014, Momoa appeared in the black comedy/thriller independent film Sugar Mountain alongside Cary Elwes and Haley Webb. And its main photography was taken in Alaska. He also appeared in the SundanceTV drama series The Red Road (2014–2015) as Phillip Kopus, a Ramapough Mountain Indian.

A boost to his career came in June 2014, when Momoa took on the role of Arthur Curry/Aquaman after auditioning for Bruce Wayne/Batman. He first appeared in a cameo role in the superhero movie Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. It was Aquaman's first live action movie.

Momoa starred the character in the 2017 ensemble film Justice League and the director's cut; Zack Snyder's Justice League. He then co-starred with Amber Heard in the movie Aquaman, which was released in late 2018. Momoa had a huge fan base with his performance and his handsomeness. He reprized this role in The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part. 

In August 2014, Momoa reprized the role of Connor in the Canadian horror action movie Wolves and starred in the sci-fi horror movie Debug. In 2015, Momoa starred in the Canadian action movie Braven, which was released on February 2, 2018. Between 2016 and 2018, Momoa played Declan Harp in all three seasons of the Canadian historical drama television series Frontier and served as executive producer of the show.

In February 2019, Momoa was cast as Duncan Idaho in the Denis Villeneuve movie Dune. In January 2022, it was announced that Momoa would join the cast of the tenth Fast & Furious movie, Fast X, starring and produced by Vin Diesel, as the villain. In April 2022, it was also announced that Momoa will star in the film adaptation of Minecraft under the direction of Jared Hess.

Private life

For Momoa, his mother is very precious and important. Momoa, who attaches great importance to the concept of family, spends time with his mother at every opportunity. The half sleeve on Momoa's left forearm is a tribute to the family god, and he has numerous tattoos, including the "aumakua". Also, as he was very interested in Buddhism in his youth, he even went to Tibet and took lessons in teachings.

Saying that his favorite thing in his life is beer and that he has a special passion for beers, Momoa likes to drink Guinness the most. Guinness had also returned his love for Momoa by gifting him a bottle of Guinness with his signature on it.

Jason Momoa married Lisa Bonet on November 15, 2007. In fact, the couple's story dates back to ancient times. Momoa said that when he was 8 years old, he saw Lisa on TV and decided to marry her. But he added that he didn't tell him this until they had children, otherwise it would have been scary and weird.

He gets along very well with his daughter, Zoë Kravitz, from Lisa's marriage to Lenny Kravitz. The couple has a son named Nakoa-Wolf Manakauapo Namakaeha and a daughter named Lisa Lola.
