3rd time to host Oscar ceremony: Who is Jimmy Kimmel?

Amy Schumer, Wanda Sykes, and Regina Hall hosted the ceremony in 2022. There was no 'official' server in 2019-2021.

Kimmel, who hosted and produced the ABC show 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!', humorously 'thanked' after receiving the Academy's invitation: "It is a great honor or a trap to receive an invitation to present the Oscar ceremony for the third time."

The comedian referred to the very low ratings of the ceremony in 2021-2022 with the phrase 'trap'. In 2021, the worst rating in Oscar history was recorded. 10.4 million people watched the ceremony in 2021, and 15.4 million this year. In 2018, Kimmel's presentation was watched by 26.6 million people.

Producers of the ceremony, which will be held for the 95th time this year, Glenn Weiss and Ricky Kirshner said that they are very excited that Kimmel will perform a 'hat-trick' on the global stage.

Born in Brooklyn, New York, Jimmy Kimmel is the eldest of three children to his mother, Joan, and father, James Kimmel.

He himself was brought up as a Catholic. Jimmy Kimmel's mother is of Italian descent. When Jimmy was 9 years old, his family moved to Las Vegas, Nevada.

Kimmel's uncle, Frank Potenza, also appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! from 2003 until his death in 2011. His cousin, Sal Iacono, co-hosted the final season of Win Ben Stein's Money after Jimmy Kimmel, and later served as a writer and sketcher on Jimmy Kimmel Live!.

Kimmel and his first wife, Gina Maddy, were married in 1998 and divorced in 2002. They had two children, Kevin and Katherine, from this marriage. He was in a relationship with Sarah Silverman from 2002 to March 2009.

In October 2009, he started dating Molly McNearney, co-director of Jimmy Kimmel Live! After getting engaged in August 2012, they got married in July 2013. On July 10, 2014, their first child, Jane Kimmel, was born.

He has declared that he is narcoleptic (prone to excessive daytime sleepiness).
