Lara Fabian was born on January 9, 1970, in Etterbeek, Belgium. Her real name is Lara Crokaert. Lara Fabian is also a Canadian citizen. She spent the first 5 years of her childhood in her father's hometown, the Sicily Autonomous Region of Italy.

Lara Fabian started singing and dancing at a very young age, and her actual music education started at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels at the age of 8.
