He is the first black driver to race in Formula 1: Who is Lewis Hamilton?

The British driver has won victories in 30 different countries, won one race in almost every season he has raced and is currently tied for world titles with Michael Schumacher, narrowly missing his eighth world title against Max Verstappen in 2021. Hamilton holds most of the Formula 1 records and looks like he can push many of them further with a contract until the end of 2023. He missed the title by one point in his first season and became the youngest world champion the following year (at that time).

Lewis Carl Hamilton was born on January 7, 1985. In 2006, he became the champion in the GP2 series with great success and then transferred to the McLaren team. He won the drivers' championship in 2008, 2014, 2015, 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020 seasons.

Lewis Hamilton was born on January 7, 1985, in Stevenage, Hertfordshire, England. His father, Anthony Hamilton, is black from Grenada, while his mother, Carmen Larbalestier, is white. Hamilton, on the other hand, identifies himself as black, although he is a mixed race.

Sir Lewis Carl Davidson Hamilton (born 7 January 1985) is a British racing driver currently competing in Formula One, driving for Mercedes. In Formula One, Hamilton has won a joint-record seven World Drivers' Championship titles (tied with Michael Schumacher), and holds the records for the most wins (103), pole positions (103), and podium finishes (194), among others.

Hamilton's parents separated when Hamilton was just 2 years old, and Hamilton lived with his mother and step-sisters Samantha and Nicola until he was 12. Hamilton later settled with his father, where he lived with his stepmother Linda and his half-brother Nicolas, who was also a professional racing driver. He was raised Catholic by the Hamilton family.

RACE LIFE

He joined the Mercedes-Benz Young pilot training program when he was just 9 years old. He won the championship in Formula Renault, Formula 3, and GP2 series.

Hamilton is one of the two Formula 1 drivers to have won the most championships, along with Michael Schumacher, with 7 world championships. He is the driver with the most race wins, the most pole positions and the most podium finishes in Formula 1 history. Hamilton also holds multiple records, including most race victories, most pole positions, and most podiums.

Born and raised in Stevenage, Hamilton signed with the McLaren junior driver program in 1998 at the age of 13. Hamilton remained in the program until the end of 2006, when he won the championship in his first season in GP2, and signed a contract with the McLaren F1 team at the end of the 2006 season, becoming the first black driver in Formula 1 history.

In his first season, Hamilton broke many records and finished the season in 2nd place, 1 point behind champion Kimi Räikkönen. The following season, at the final corner of the final lap of the final race of the season, Hamilton passed Timo Glock, who continued ahead of him on dry-track tires on the wet ground from the rain that started late in the race. Thus, Hamilton won the championship with 98 points, 1 point ahead of Felipe Massa, and became the youngest Formula 1 world champion ever.

After the title, Hamilton spent another four years at McLaren and signed with Mercedes in 2013.
