The first female designer in Lacoste history: Who is Louise Trotter?
In 2018, Lacoste appointed a female designer to head its creative team for the first time in its 85-year history. Louise Trotter became the creative director of the French sportswear brand. However, in 2023, this mission ended.
Louise Trotter ended her 9-year career at Joseph and moved to Lacoste.
Fashion commentators thought that Trotter should prepare new game plans for Lacoste. Having accomplished good works with talented creators such as Felipe Oliveira Baptista between 2010-2018 and Christophe Lemaire between 2005-2009, Lacoste's work with Trotter was eagerly awaited.
In January 2023, Lacoste announced that Trotter was leaving her job to "pursue new projects."
Speaking about her time at Lacoste, Trotter said: "I am honored to serve the legacy of René Lacoste, whose sporting values I will uphold. I am delighted to join this unique brand, which perfectly combines heritage and the avant-garde. My warmest and most sincere wishes to everyone who has supported me in this exciting adventure." "I would like to express my gratitude: to all Lacoste employees and especially to the production department in Troyes, the archives, my teams, my friends, and the loyal followers of the house," she said.
Trotter joins Lacoste, replacing Felipe Oliveira Baptista, who held the post for eight years and joined the team at Kenzo.
