Who is Majid Majidi?

He is a director, screenwriter, and producer who was born on April 7, 1959, in Tehran, Iran. He was born and raised in Tehran in a middle-class family. He started acting in amateur theater groups at the age of 14. He studied at the Institute of Dramatic Arts in Tehran. He was nominated for an Academy Award in the Best Foreign Film category with his film "Children of Heaven", which he directed in 1997.

Majid Majidi is an Iranian filmmaker and producer. In his films, Majidi has touched on many themes and genres and has won numerous international awards.

In 2008, he shot the movie The Song of Sparrows, which is considered Majidi's masterpiece and gained fame. Children of Heaven, 1997

Summary: Ali gave his sister Zahra's shoe to the repairman to have it repaired. After leaving the shoe store, he realizes that he doesn't have his shoes with him. Ali, who lost the shoe, explains the situation to Zahra. The two siblings, who grew up in the same room in financial difficulties and whose mother is very ill, do not want to explain this situation to their father. Because a new pair of shoes means a new expense. That's why they start wearing Ali's shoes alternately. Then, the story is about the efforts of the two brothers to get a new shoe for Zahra and what happens to them when they use the shoes alternately.

The Color of Paradise, 1999

Summary: Little Muhammad is receiving boarding education at a school for the blind in Tehran. He was born blind and tries to understand the world around him by touching and hearing. When his school is on holiday for the summer, his father comes to school to pick him up and take him to his village. Muhammad's mother has died and his father is planning a new marriage. Worried that a disabled child will disrupt his marriage plans, the father constantly looks for ways to get rid of him. In the village, Muhammad's two loving sisters and his old grandmother, with whom they will spend the summer, are waiting for him.

The Song of Sparrows, 2008

Summary: Karim works on an ostrich farm outside Tehran. While he was living a simple and happy life with his family in his small house, one day one of the ostriches escaped. Karim is held responsible for this and is fired from the farm. Shortly after, he goes to the city to get his eldest daughter's hearing aid repaired but is mistaken for a motorcycle taxi driver.
