He turned into a Hollywood star overnight with Twilight: Who is Robert Pattinson?

Robert Douglas Thomas Pattinson was born on May 13, 1986 in London, the youngest of three children to Clare, a modeling agency, and Richard Pattinson, a car dealer. He grew up in a small house in Barnes with his two older sisters, Lizzy and Victoria. He attended Tower House School, however, at the age of 12, he was expelled from school for robbing adult magazines in a post office and then selling them to male classmates. After leaving here, he continued his education at The Harrodian School.

He got involved in amateur theater at the age of 13 at the Barnes Theater Company. Two years after joining, he got a small role in Guys and Dolls. Then, in Our Town, he was spotted by a talent agent sitting in the audience and began looking for professional roles. Pattinson made his debut in the 2004 movie Vanity Fair. But scenes starring Pattinson were later cut from the movie and only appeared in the DVD version.

After acting in various theaters until the age of 20, he decided to become a model. He became the face of world-famous brands such as Haclett and Dior. Despite being very successful during his modeling period, he turned down Burberry's £1 million offer in 2010. The reason was his desire to be remembered as an actor, not as a model.

Pattinson played Cedric Diggory in 2005's Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. For this role, he was named "British Star of Tomorrow" that year by The Times and has been called "the next Jude Law" more than once. Then, in 2008, Pattinson was cast as Edward Cullen in Twilight, based on Stephenie Meyer's novel. The movie was released on November 21, 2008 and transformed Pattinson into a movie star overnight. Additionally, Pattinson, who was 17 at the time of filming, revealed in an interview that he did not go to college to act in the movie. Despite mixed reviews, critics also liked Pattinson's collaboration with Kristen Stewart.

He then starred as Salvador Dalí in Little Ashes, a Spanish-British drama directed by Paul Morrison. Pattinson has been involved in 30 different projects to date. But none of them had as big an impact as Twilight. So much so that he reprized his role as Edward Cullen in the Twilight sequel The Twilight Saga: New Moon, which was released on November 20, 2009. New Moon made Pattinson one of the highest paid actors in the world.

His next film, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, was released on June 30, 2010, and was a huge hit worldwide. Pattinson executive produced and starred in the movie Remember Me, which was released on March 12, 2010. Although the film received mixed reviews, some critics praised its performance.

Pattinson reprized his role as Edward Cullen in The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1, which premiered on November 18, 2011 and won worldwide. The film received mixed and negative reviews from critics. He then starred for the last time as Edward Cullen in The Twilight Saga:Breaking Dawn – Part 2, the final chapter of The Twilight Saga saga, which was released on November 16, 2012 and is the world's highest-grossing movie. Despite the mixed and negative reviews of the critics, the movie series was well received and watched by everyone.

Pattinson later landed the role of Connie Nikas, a bank robber in the Safdie Brothers-directed thriller Good Time. The movie marked a turning point in Pattinson's career. Pattinson received his first Independent Spirit Award nomination for Best Actor for his performance in the film.

Pattinson's first role in 2019 was in Robert Eggers' black and white psychological horror film The Lighthouse, set on a remote New England island in the 1890s. Both the film as a whole and Pattinson's performance were highly appreciated. He received his second Independent Spirit Award nomination for Best Leading Male for the film. In January 2022, it was announced that Bong Joon-ho Warner Bros Pictures is in talks to star in a new untitled film, based on Edward Ashton's sci-fi novel Mickey7.

Other initiatives and public image

Pattinson had been playing guitar and piano and writing his own music since he was four years old. He appeared on the Twilight soundtrack as the singer of two songs he. The soundtrack for How to Be also included three original songs performed by Pattinson and written by composer Joe Hastings. When asked about his professional music career, Pattinson said, "Music is my backup plan if acting fails." In 2010, Pattinson was awarded "Hollywood's Most Influential Most Unexpected Musicians".

On the show Late Night With Seth Meyers in 2014, he said he wanted to become a rapper if he quit acting. He even came up with a nickname for himself: “Big Tub”.

In June 2010, he donated his artwork to PACT, which was auctioned on eBay, to help the organization that works for missing children. In August 2011, in his acceptance speech at the 2011 Teen Choice Awards, he helped raise awareness of cancer by highlighting The Cancer Bites campaign, and shared details of the campaign for cancer patients. He participated in a charitable auction organized by the GO Campaign and bought a cello made from recycled material on November 15, 2013. In December 2009, Pattinson signed a guitar for auction for charity. In 2010, People listed Pattinson in their "World's Most Beautiful" issue. He has been selected multiple times by many magazines and media outlets and topped the charts.

In mid-2009, Pattinson became romantically involved with her Twilight co-star Kristen Stewart. In July 2012, Stewart was photographed with director Rupert Sanders and revealed an affair. Pattinson and Stewart broke up. Pattinson has been in a relationship with model Suki Waterhouse since mid-2018. As of July 2020, the couple resided in London.

Although he had great success in his film career, he never took part in television programs. Robert Pattinson, who has appeared in more than thirty films to date, has turned down all offers from television shows. Those who reach out to Pattinson for a TV show or commercial are always disappointed.
