Satya Nadella was born on August 19, 1967, in Hyderabad, India. His father, Bukkapuram Nadella Yugandher, was an Indian Administrative Service officer. His mother, Prabhavati Nadella, was working as a lecturer in India.
Satya Nadella completed his primary education at Hyderabad Public School in Begumpet, India. Then he transferred to Manipal Institute of Technology, one of the most prestigious schools in Karnataka. He studied electrical engineering here. When the calendar showed 1988, he was a new electrical engineer.
After graduation, Nadella was determined to pursue higher education. That's why he wanted to go abroad. Nadella took action without waiting long. He went to America to realize his dreams. Nadella was accepted to the University of Wisconsin Computer Science Department. He successfully completed his master's degree in 1990.
However, what Nadella wanted was not limited to this. He wanted to take his education life one step further. His next goal was to get a doctorate at one of the prestigious schools. In this context, Nadella enrolled in the Booth School of Business, which is affiliated with the University of Chicago and one of the best-known business schools in the world. From here he successfully received his doctorate degree.
After his doctoral education, Satya Nadella started his career at Sun Microsystems. However, his career here was not long-lasting. Then, in 1992, he started working at Microsoft as a young engineer.
In the first place, he made significant contributions to the development of Microsoft's search engine Bing.
In 1992, Nadella married Anupama, the daughter of his father's friend. The couple has two daughters and a son.
Nadella served as CEO of Microsoft for more than 7 years. On June 16, 2021, he was appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of Microsoft, replacing John Thompson. During this period, Nadella; Apple announced that Microsoft and Linux will work together to show that they are competitors to Salesforce and Dropbox. Following this announcement, Microsoft became a Platinum member of the Linux Foundation in 2016. Thus, Microsoft and Linux made their joint work official.
Nadella's Microsoft Acquisitions
Satya Nadella's first acquisition with Microsoft took place in 2014. He first set his sights on Mojang, a Swedish video game developer. The successful manager bought Mojang in 2014. Satya Nadella's other target was Minecraft, one of the groundbreaking games in the gaming world. The game was purchased by Microsoft for 2.5 billion dollars.
On the other hand, Nadella also made moves in the software field. One of these moves was to purchase Xamarin. When the calendar showed 2016, Microsoft announced that it had acquired the professional social network LinkedIn for 26.2 billion dollars. Additionally, GitHub, a web-based storage service for software development projects, was officially acquired by Microsoft for 7.5 billion dollars on October 26, 2018.
