The director who nominee an Oscar for two of his films in the same year: Who is Steven Soderbergh?

Out Of Sight, “Sex, Lies and Videotapes”, Traffic, and Erin Brockovich are among his important films. His trilogy films, Ocean's Eleven, Ocean's Twelve, and Ocean's Thirteen, which were released in 2007 and told about the adventures of a robbery gang, were great successes all over the world.

He was born on January 14, 1963, in Atlanta, USA. When his father, Peter Soderbergh, was appointed dean of Louisiana State University, the family moved to Baton Rouge. At the age of fifteen, Soderbergh enrolled in his college's animation class and began shooting 16 mm short films with second-rate equipment. One of them was Janitor.

Steven Andrew Soderbergh (born January 14, 1963) is an American film director, producer, screenwriter, cinematographer, and editor. A pioneer of modern independent cinema, Soderbergh later drew acclaim for formally inventive films made within the studio system.

After graduating from college, Soderbergh moved to Hollywood and worked as a freelance film editor. Winning the Grammy award for the concert video he shot for the band Yes in 1985 opened the doors for Soderbergh to make films.

The director, who returned to Baton Rouge after a short stay in Hollywood, completed the script of the film he had previously designed, Sex, Lies and Videotapes, in 8 days. The production, which revolutionized independent film, won the Palme d'Or award at the Cannes Film Festival in 1989 and created an advertising boom parallel to the success of Quentin Taranatino's Pulp Fiction movie in the same year.

Additionally, Soderbergh received an award at Cannes at the age of 26, becoming the youngest director to receive this award. Sex, Lies, and Videotapes is a low-budget film starring Jeremy Irons as Franz Kafka; King of the Hill followed the movie.

Soderbergh's commercial fortunes changed with 1988's Out Of Sight, starring Jennifer Lopez and George Clooney. The film was the beginning of Soderbergh and Clooney's long-term partnership.

The year 2000 was a turning point for Soderbergh's career. Erin Brockovich, released in 2000, earned Julia Roberts an Oscar for Best Actress and made the director famous all over the world.

Then came Traffic, which received great praise in the social drama category and shined the director's light even more, for which he also won the Best Director Oscar. Drawing attention with its strong cast, Traffic further reinforced the director's well-deserved reputation. Soderbergh, who was nominated for an Oscar for best director in the same year with Traffic and Erin Brockovich, was also breaking new ground in the 60-year history of the academy.

One of Steven Soderbergh's most attractive and brilliant films added to his box office success was Ocean's Eleven, which gained great success all over the world with its cast starring Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, George Clooney, and Andy Garcia. It was followed by Solaris, which was one of the best-earning films of its time with a revenue of 183 million.

In addition to directing, Soderbergh also wrote the screenplay for Gary Ross's "Pleasantville", Scott McGehee's "Nightwatch" and Greg Mottola's "The Daytrippers".
